History of Finca Salvador Italia
At the foot of the Tacaná volcano lived an indigenous ethnic group descended from the Maya – the Mam people, who spoke their own language and preserved their unique culture. At the end of the 19th century, Germans arrived in Mexico in search of ideal conditions for coffee cultivation. They chose the state of Chiapas due to its fertile soil and favorable climate. In need of labor, they taught the local people how to grow coffee. Over time, having gained new knowledge and skills, these communities moved to the mountainous regions now known as the Sierra Madre de Chiapas, in search of the best land for cultivation.
At that time, these were public lands, but in 1922, they were officially granted by the then-president, enabling further development of coffee plantations.
This marked the beginning of the story of Finca Salvador Italia – a place where tradition, nature, and coffee cultivation come together as one.
